Sonia’s Curls Score a 10.0!

At the Set It Free event in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, one of the hair models had one of the most amazing set of curls I’ve ever seen in my life—I would even say they’re gold medal worthy!

For those naturalistas who are on a journey to LONG HAIR DON’T CARE she is totally a hair idol so I sat her down to chat with her so she could share with us all her routine and regimen.

Even if, like me, you’re not on a journey of growth you have to admit that she has totally crush worthy curls! I will say I was absolutely impressed that she only trims about once a year. Even though her hair appears to be in great condition, I am still a strong supporter of clipping ends to keep ‘em healthy every 8-12 weeks.

Even gorgeous in a pony puff!

What Are You Doing With Your Hair for New Years Eve!?!??

NYE always always always sneaks up on me and whaddya know!?!? It’s tomorrow. I have no plans, just a lot of options and a desire to 1. look cute (duh) and 2. do something memorable. I obviously have a bit more control over the first thing, because you never know what will happen on New Years in SF (my last one in the city resulted in me hosting a house party during which my front door broke and everyone got locked INTO the party. Talk about interesting!)

So let’s talk about New Years hair. Dramatic. Sparkly. Big. Fun. are all words that come to mind when I think about what I’d like to do with my hair. My Damn Fade is nothing if not dramatic and big and fun when its loose, so it looks like I’ve gotta add some sparkle to it. I’ve been trolling the interwebz for some hairspiration pix, but I thought I’d ask YOU my dear naturalistas what YOU’RE doing with your hair to ring in the holidays. Send me your hairspiration pix AND/OR snaps of your actual style then I’m going to post a gallery of all the haute #naturalnewyear hair sent in next week. Here’s how you can send me your shots:

  • Email me at cassidy[at]naturalselectionblog[dot]com
  • Tweet them to me @naturalsblog with the hashtag #naturalnewyear
  • Post them to my FB wall at facebook.com/naturalselectionblog

I can’t wait to see all your gorgeousness!  In the meantime, here’s a few pics that I’ve been digging up to get your creative styling juices going!

Loc Week: Zue’s Fuchsia Hues (and violet and blonde)

I met Zue a couple weeks ago while in Seattle for the EcoGlamour event and swooned over her fuchsia, purple, and blond locs cut into a striking style. The blogger in me immediately began snapping pics and asking questions and it turns out that Miss Zue is a stylist herself! I asked her to share with us some of her expertise in coloring and how she created this unique and distinctive style!

Cassidy: In a word, your locs are totally awesome. Love the colors. How did you decide on this color scheme?

Zue: Thanks! Well, this decision was based on fun. I was ready for something bold and bright to contrast against Seattle’s fall weather.
