Half Inch of Growth in Five Weeks! Craziness!

The other day I was looking in the mirror and THOUGHT that I saw my roots coming in.  “BAH!  Not possible!  I just had my hair colored a few weeks ago!”

Then when detangling and parting my hair, low and behold I’VE GOT SOME FREAKING ROOTS!!

That’s a full half inch of growth right there!  Wowie!  I always thought my hair grew fast, but the new growth of my natural color really lets me see it clearly.  I’ve been considering (***just considering***) growing out my cut and I was wondering how long it would take for the short side to match the left side.  My long side is about 8″ when stretched and the short is about 2″ so at a rate of 1/2″ per month, we’re looking at another year.  Hmm…that’s an awful long time…I might just have to big chop myself outta this one and go from there :)

  1. Excellent growth!!! It might be easier to do a big chop but one year really isn’t that long in the end.

  2. one year is definitely not long at all. i cant believe it’ll be 3 yrs for me this sept :) i did an amber rose cut and per my experiment of measuring every month for a whole year on average our hair grows 1/2 in per month!!

  3. Yeah, A year isn’t very long at all. I dont think it is. I’ve been natural for a little over a year now. I had my one year anniversary last month. I’m very excited. My hair grows fast too, so I think that if you really want to do the big chop then to go for it. I thought about dying my hair, but I really don’t want to go through dying my hair every month or less because of my roots growing out. I like the color of your hair. My hair is dark brown, but if I was to go as light as you then I would definitely have roots that are too dark to hide. I dont know. If you want to go for the big chop I would go for it. It’s exciting either way. Don’t let the big chop stop you because obviously it didn’t stop you before!
