Chop Chop! Monique’s 2nd Chop

Today in the Chop Chop series (featuring people who have gone for the big chop AGAIN) we have friend and fellow Bay Area Natural, Monique!  I caught wind of her 2nd chop through her YouTube channel and want to share her debut video with you, along with some questions I posed to her on the chop.

Monique after! Lovely lovely love!

NS: What inspired the chop this time around?

M: Time!  I became very frustrated with the time involved – setting a style – doing a zillion twists for the perfect twist-out and banding to stretch the hair – it wasn’t worth the hours. I could be more productive in my mind doing other things such as spending time with my family and friends, enjoying my hobbies and doing ab-so-lute-ly N-O-T-H-I-N-G! Some people call that resting. I didn’t know what that was because I was always doing something. Rather it be researching a new product or trying a different style.

NS: What has the reaction been?

M: I continually get compliments in my work and personal life, however in my military life there were a lot of blank stares – there were a few who voiced their opinions in a “I’m confused why you did that” kind of way “but it looks good”.  Mind you I work with pilots and guys who jump out of perfectly good helicopters for a living (par-rescue jumpers) and in my civilian career I work in a hospital. Overall it’s been a positive reason.

NS: How do YOU feel?

M: I LOVE it! The simplicity of it is my favorite part!!

  8. I love her hair. She looks great.

I wore my hair like this from 2004-2007. It is by far my favorite hairstyle for the very reasons Monique stated. I definitely plan to rock it again after I grow my hair to the length I want.
