Today is the birthday of my dear friend Phallon. We were born three days apart and have been friends ever since. I wanted to wish her a special birthday on Natural Selection because Phallon falls into a rare breed of natural: a LIFELONG NATURAL! With this trend of “going natural” I think it’s equally important to celebrate those who have just “been natural”.
Growing up, I remember Phallon always had these beautiful baby-fine curls and Aunt Brenda (her mom) always felt strongly about not putting chemicals in her hair. So she never did. While I went the relaxer route, Phal stayed naturally fly.
After spending many a year running, swimming, biking, selling homemade jewelry at exorbitant prices around the suburbs of Minneapolis (what up Edina!) together, Phal and her family moved out of state. We still got to see each other on vacations when I would fly to see her or she would come back to Minneapolis. And then college entered the picture and we were even further apart. However, no matter the distance between us, each year there are always birthday phone calls exchanged! And this year, a SURPRISE blog entry !
Phallon’s been on my list of naturals to feature on this blog and I plan on doing an full on interview with her because this lady is the master of versatile styling and we can all learn a thing or two from her!
Please join me in wishing Phallon the happiest of birthdays!!!
Love ya girl!
